This tutorial section provides additional sacrificing problems in a series designed to foster development of a player’s tactical & strategic vision for the “give-to-gain” concept. The problems present coordination and combination between sacrifices and other tactical & strategic concepts including diversion, luring, skewering, sacrificing a higher value piece for a lower value opposing piece, by viewing the board broadly to spot, exploit, and develop opportunities that may not be readily apparent. A key hallmark for advancing the level of one’s game playing is nurturing the ability to spot, develop, and exploit such opportunities when they are presented during the playing of chess games.
