Stronger and Weaker Bishops. The Black King starts out on a white square, and if Black castles to either the Kingside or Queenside, it will land on a white square – thus White’s stronger Bishop generally is the White Bishop for use in developing an attack; the reverse is true for Black – the White King starts out on a black or dark colored square, and if castled to either the Kingside or Queenside it will land on a black or dark colored square – thus Black’s stronger bishop generally is his or her Black Bishop!
